Ulley Early Spring
11th March 2025.
Early spring is a tricky time to be a plein air artist. The weather last week was glorious, sunny and warm, perfect! Today it was cold, very cold with the chill blowing in from the North, the light ever changing. Challenging!
But the sun was out so I braved the elements and set up to paint the view looking up the hill towards Ulley and the Penny Hill Wind Farm. It’s a view I’ve been past on training rides for many years and thought it would make a good composition to paint.
I enjoyed the colour and texture of the fields being prepared for sowing with the billowing clouds against a blue sky. The wind turbines gently turning on the horizon line.
A super cold day but I was rewarded with an expressive painting of this early spring landscape.
