The Peak District is an amazing environment for walking and cycling, the craggy grit stone outcrops of the Dark Peak are my favourite. Walking along Bamford Edge the view of Ladybower and the peaks beyond opens up and is a breathtaking spot to stop, have a brew and contemplate. I set up my easel right on the Edge and spent a day painting. The weather was a challenge, the sun came and went but I was happy with the end result.

This painting captures the way the light plays on the hills and tells the story of the view.
