A few days after a heavy snow fall it had partially melted leaving clumps of snow at the edges of the fields. A bright winters day with the low sun casting blue black shadows gave great contrast. The paint is applied in an expressive way to describe the texture of the muddy farm tracks and rutted fields with those lovely shadows giving great contrast.
